The GCC Government and Private Sectors Knowledge Management Development Conference concluded successfully today at the Sofitel Luxury Hotel in Downtown Dubai. The 2-day conference propagated the significance of knowledge management strategies in the government and business organizations and the drive to build a knowledge-based economy in the GCC. Attended by regional government and business organization leaders and decision-makers, the conference in its first edition addressed the critical needs and drives of the region in implementing competitive KM strategies in its organizations and leveraging its standards to meet the global benchmarks. Day 2 commenced with the panel discussion on “GCC Government Organizations 2020 Knowledge Management Globalization and Competitive Standardization” that was chaired by Mr. Ali Al Kamali, Managing Director of Datamatix; Dr. Usman Zafar, Country Manager of ]init[ Services for eSociety; and Mr. Azzan Lootah, CEO of Authenticity Coaching and Consultancy.
The panel discussed the varying aspects of knowledge management in the public and the private sector and expressed their views on standardizing and the future of knowledge management in the GCC region.
The coffee break and networking session was followed by a presentation on “Importance of Developing the Knowledge Management Strategy” by Ms. Fatima Hayat, Chief Operating Officer of DUC Consulting International. She discussed how active and efficient knowledge management supports and promotes innovation and boosts the organizational environment. She further stressed on the KM developing strategies in organizations and the need for conducting holistic and comprehensive analyses to address the key issues and needs.
Dr Usman Zafar, Country Manager of ]init[ Services for eSociety, concluded the conference with his session on “Knowledge Transfers within the Organizations”. In his presentation he talked about the KM evolution : data , information , knowledge and implementation and the necessity of handling metadata and structured documents. He further elaborated on key issues like business intelligence & CRM, collaboration technology and knowledge management integration, explicit knowledge and tacit knowledge and its significant characteristics and sources.
Addressing and thanking the audience for their participation and interaction in the 2 days of the conference, Mr. Ali Al Kamali, Managing Director of Datamatix said that the conference stems from the sheer vision of the supreme leaders of the region in augmenting the base of knowledge management initiatives in the region.
